1. AMPAL
AMPAL is the Australasian Music Publishers Association Limited, a trade association representing the interests of music publishers in Australia and New Zealand. Our Aim/Mission can be seen on the About AMPAL page of this website.
2. General Policy
This policy sets out how AMPAL collects personal information. It also describes how AMPAL maintains, uses and discloses personal information. AMPAL respects the privacy of individuals. Generally, AMPAL does not release personal information.
However, in response to a legal requirement, in an emergency or in exceptional circumstances, the General Manager may at his or her discretion authorise the release of personal information. In all other circumstances this policy governs the collection, use and disclosure of personal information.
3. Collection of your personal information
Where AMPAL collects personal information it is collected for AMPAL’s business purposes, which are detailed generally on it’s website at www.ampal.com.au. Where AMPAL documents require personal information, AMPAL will generally state the purpose(s) of this requirement and to whom the personal information may be disclosed.
4. Use of your personal information
AMPAL may, from time to time, send to you marketing material that AMPAL considers will be useful to you. AMPAL may also send you material about its activities. If you do not wish to receive this information, you can let us know and we will not send it to you. This does not apply to information that we are legally required to send, or information regarding the rights of our members.
AMPAL uses the personal information that it collects to fulfil its legal obligations and to keep its members informed of AMPAL’s activities and the services that it provides to it’s members.
5. Disclosure of your personal information
Generally, AMPAL must get your consent before it discloses any of your personal information. You may give AMPAL your consent expressly or it may be implied by your conduct.
Depending on the service, AMPAL may disclose your personal information to:
Statutory authorities such as ASIC;
external service providers (on a confidential basis and such service providers will be limited in their use of your information to the purpose of AMPAL’s activities only);
specialist advisers to AMPAL who have been engaged to provide AMPAL with legal, administrative, financial, insurance, research, marketing or other services;
any other person authorized by you, as specified by you to AMPAL; and
AMPAL may at other times notify you about its disclosure practices in relation to specific services that it provides in relation to its activities.
6. Security of your personal information
AMPAL takes all reasonable steps to protect your personal information from loss, unauthorised access, modification, disclosure or other misuse.
7. Sensitive personal information
AMPAL does not generally collect any sensitive information as that term is used in the Privacy legislation (including information relating to your racial or ethnic origin, membership of political bodies, religion or trade unions, sexual preferences or activities, criminal record, state of health or medical history). If AMPAL holds any sensitive personal information about you, that information will only be used and disclosed by AMPAL for the purpose that it was provided by you.
8. Access to your personal information
At any time, you may request access to personal information about you that AMPAL holds. AMPAL will process your request within a reasonable time and, if it is unable to give you a copy of the information, it will let you know generally the sort of information it holds about you.
9. Correction of your personal information
You should promptly notify AMPAL if there are any changes to your personal information. You may ask AMPAL at any time to correct personal information it holds about you.
10. Changes to this policy
AMPAL may amend this policy from time to time, and the policy will be published on AMPAL’s website.
